Li Dianxun, deputy secretary of theCPC Hubei ProvincialCommittee and governor of Hubei Province, led a delegation to Hong Kong from April 26 to 29 to deepen all-round, in-depth cooperation between Hubei and Hong Kong and contribute jointly to Chinese modernization.

During the visit, Li met with John LeeKa-chiu, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Zhou Ji, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HongKongS.A.R. Li expressed appreciation for their long-standing support for Hubei’s development and said Hubei and Hong Kong have made fruitful progress in trade and investment, finance, science and technology, culture and tourism, and other fields.

Li said Hubei is accelerating thebuildingof a strategicstrongholdfor theRise ofCentral China while advancing deeper reform, high-standardopening up and coordinated innovation. He called for greater use of Hong Kong’s unique strengths as a“super-connector”and“super value-adder”in global finance, shipping, trade and innovation to expand cooperation and promote high-quality development in both regions.

At the 2026 Hubei-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, Li welcomed Hong Kong businesses to explore new opportunities in Hubei, pledging to optimize the business environment in government services, industrial development, social life, market competition and the rule of law.

The delegation also visited the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Science Park, exploring cooperation in financial services, technology R&D, commercialization, talent development and industrial cultivation.

During the visit, Hubei and Hong Kong enterprises, universities and institutions reached a series of cooperation outcomes, including a strategic cooperation agreement among major shipping enterprises to advance multimodal transport and modern logistics.
