From November 24 to 29, Li Dianxun, Governor of Hubei Province, led a provincial delegation to the UK and the UAE, aimed at deepening international cooperation in innovation, finance, and trade to serve Hubei’s high-quality development.
In the UK, from November 24 to 26, the mission focused on financial and technological synergy. In London, Li Dianxun met with Timothy Hailes, the upcoming Lord Mayor of the City of London, and leaders from Schroders Capital, witnessing the signing of cooperation agreements to attract global capital. The delegation explored innovation ecosystems at Cambridge Science Park and the University of Manchester’s National Graphene Institute, aiming to facilitate technology transfer and talent exchange.
They also had talks with Lloyd’s Register and AstraZeneca on green shipping and biopharmaceuticals respectively. At the Hubei-UK Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, Li Dianxun highlighted Hubei’s unique strengths as a strategic hub in Central China, proposing a joint Hubei-UK Synergistic Innovation Institute to institutionalize R&D and industrial collaboration.
In the UAE, from November 27 to 29, the visit prioritized "Belt and Road" opportunities. Li Dianxun held talks with the UAE Ministers of Investment and Foreign Trade in Abu Dhabi. Key consensuses were reached on innovative investment models and the construction of a multinational multimodal logistics system.
In Dubai, Li Dianxun addressed the Hubei-UAE Economic and Trade Exchange, where several major projects were signed. He emphasized Hubei’s role as a national transportation hub and proposed integrating "Cross-border E-commerce + Overseas Warehousing" to optimize supply chains between China and the MENA region. The delegation also engaged with DP World and ACWA Power to discuss logistics networks and energy cooperation.
Throughout the tour, Li Dianxun reaffirmed Hubei’s commitment to a world-class, market-oriented business environment, inviting global partners to share in Hubei’s growth potential.
