Vice Governor Chen Ping warmly welcomed all the guests and noted that Hubei enjoys strong economic growth, vibrant innovation in science and technology, a complete industrial system, and rich cultural and tourism resources. The province is accelerating its development as a key strategic stronghold for the rise of Central China. She expressed hope for further deepening of practical cooperation with Macao in areas such as trade and investment, culture and tourism, technological innovation, and traditional Chinese medicine. She welcomed enterprises and business associations from Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries to invest and start businesses in Hubei, supporting the province in becoming a pacesetter of inland openness, a world-renowned cultural tourism destination, and an international consumption center.
On September 4, a press conference was held where MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes introduced Macao’s three major tourism assets –– the “Historic Centre of Macao,” its designation as a “Creative City of Gastronomy,” and its upcoming role as the “Culture City of East Asia 2025.” She emphasized that with Hubei’s rich cultural and tourism resources and Macao’s global positioning, the two regions can complement each other and jointly unleash the synergistic potential of “Tourism+.”
