On January 14, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Hubei Provincial People’s Government held a new year gathering on the eve of the provincial two sessions. More than 30 members of the CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee and representatives from Hong Kong and Macao SAR attended.

Mme. Zhang Xiaomei, Director-General of the Hubei Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, stated that the past year witnessed a stream of grand events in the two regions, including the completion of the article 23 legislation of Hong Kong’s basic law and the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, showcasing the dynamics and strengths of the One Country, Two Systems policy.  

Zhang said that as Hubei continues to deepen cooperation and exchanges with Hong Kong and Macao, members of the CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee and public figures from the two SARs have made substantial contributions. She expressed hope that they can fully leverage their role to inspire more people in Hong Kong and Macao to love both the country and their own regions and to boost the visibility of Hubei.

Attendees represented by Mario Ho Yau Kwan also shared their thoughts on Hubei’s development prospects and cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao. They expressed their commitment to serving as a bridge to guide more projects, capital, technology, and talent to Hubei and promoting win-win cooperation in various fields.
