On November 1, Philemon Yang, President of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly arrived in Hubei Province during his five-day trip to China at the invitation of Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Wang Zhonglin, Governor of the Hubei Provincial People’s Government, met with President Philemon Yang in Wuhan.

Wang welcomedYang andhis delegation andexpressed his gratitude for the UN’s long-standingsupport for Hubei.In his briefing, Wang highlighted Hubei’s strategic location and its status as a national powerhouse in terms of economy, science and education, ecological conservation, andagriculture. He notedthat in recent years, Hubei hasprioritized high-quality development under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with ChineseCharacteristics for aNewEra and maintained steady and robust economicgrowth.As Hubei is well on track to become a strategic pivot for the Rise of Central China, the province will furtherexpand high-standardopening up and strengthen exchanges and cooperation withthe rest of the world.

Yang praisedChina’sremarkable achievements insocio-economicdevelopment andcommended its contributions to world peace and development. He alsorecognized Hubei’sstrengths in science and education, agriculture, and water conservancy. He stated that the UN is an international organization forworld peace and development and its General Assembly isthe only body with universal representation. He hoped thatthe two sides could deepencooperation, jointly implement thePact for the Future, and promote the progressof humanity to the benefits of the whole world.
