The Governor of Kazakhstan’s Turkestan Region Darkhan Satybaldy led a delegation to Hubei from July 9 to 10, a visit aimed at implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state and deepening friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between the two sides.

Satybaldy was received by Governor Wang Zhonglin and the two signed a letter of intent on establishing friendly relationship.

Governor Wang mentioned President Xi Jinping’s visit to Kazakhstan earlier that month, during which he held talks with President Tokayev and made new plans and reached new consensus for the “Golden 30 Years” of China-Kazakhstan relations. Wang lauded Satybaldy’s visit to Hubei as a practical step to implement this consensus and a strong impetus to enhance sub-national exchanges and cooperation.

Wang gave Governor Satybaldy’s delegation an overall introduction of Hubei’s strengths and developments. He noted that under the guidance of China-Kazakhstan permanent comprehensive strategic partnership, Hubei has deepened cooperation with Kazakhstan and achieved notable results in economic, trade, and cultural exchanges. He added that based on the letter of intent, Hubei will further strengthen cooperation in trade, agriculture, and major infrastructure projects and people-to-people exchanges with Turkestan, so as to share development opportunities and make joint contribution to the building of a more dynamic China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future and the high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

In his response, Governor Satybaldy briefed Hubei officials on the socio-economic developments of Turkestan and expressed his willingness to strengthen friendly exchanges and expand cooperation with Hubei.

The delegation also engaged in discussions with Director-General Zhang Xiaomei to explore possibilities of high-level exchanges and business cooperation. The delegation visited the Hubei Province International Cooperation Association of Enterprises and Wuhan Asia-Europe Logistics and inaugurated the Kazakhstan-Turkestan Hubei Business Representative Office and Kazakhstan-Turkestan Logistics Center in Wuhan.

The delegation went to Suizhou and attended the Hubei (Suizhou)-Turkestan Friendly Exchange and Economic Cooperation Conference. Representative companies from both sides signed investment and economic cooperation agreements. The delegation also toured enterprises such as CLW Group, Hubei Jinlong Group, TKD Science and Technology, and Pinyuan (Suizhou) Modern Agriculture Development. They expressed interest in further exchanges and cooperation with Suizhou in areas such as mushroom cultivation, agricultural processing, and new material manufacturing.
