Hubei's imports and exports reached 102.03 billionyuan in the first two months of this year, up 12.7percent year on year, local customs said on March 15.

Of the total, exports posted70.49 billionyuan, up14percent from the same period last year, while imports gained9.8percent to31.54 billionyuan.

Hubei’s imports and exports of general trade in January and Februaryamountedto77.24 billionyuan, accounting for75.7percent ofthe province's total foreign trade volume.

During the period,Hubei's foreign trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United States stood at18.05 billion yuan and 9.02 billion yuan, respectively.

Meanwhile, the province’s trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled51.09 billion yuan, rising by 12.9percent year on year.

Private enterprises witnessedstrong performancewiththeimport and export volumehitting70.55 billion yuanovertheperiod, while the imports and exportsofstate-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprisesreached16.05 billionyuan and15.39 billionyuan,respectively.

Exportsofmechanical and electrical productsrepresented a year-on-year growth of 38.9percent to38.73 billion yuan, while exportsoflabor-intensiveproducts reached 14.82 billion yuan, soaring by94.6percent.

Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province,registered a year-on-year increase of 20.6 percent to55.76 billion yuan in foreign trade, taking up a54.6-percent share of the province's total during the same period.(en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei）
