Wang Zhonglin, Governor of Hubei Provincial People’s Government, met with Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Wuhan on March 2, 2024. The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone Wang Qing, Vice Governors Chen Ping and Wei Shengbin attended the meeting.

Governor Wang warmly welcomed President Bio and his delegation. He expressed confidence that President Bio’s visit, upon the invitation of President Xi Jinping, would further enhance the cooperation between the two nations.

Wang emphasized Hubei’s strategic position with excellent transportation connectivity and a solid economic foundation. Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Hubei has been actively enhancing its development capabilities and reshaping its advantages, contributing significantly to China’s overall development. To implement the important consensus reached by our two leaders and consolidate bilateral relations, Hubei endeavors to deepen cooperation with Sierre Leone in agriculture, education, healthcare, trade, and major infrastructure projects.

President Bio commended Hubei’s achievements in economic and social development, acknowledging the province’s crucial role in promoting China-Sierra Leone cooperation. He emphasized the profound friendship between the two countries, expressing optimism about the broad prospects for cooperation with Hubei. President Bio hoped that his visit would open up more opportunities for cooperation in areas such as food cultivation, agriculture, science and education, healthcare, mineral development and utilization, and infrastructure, elevating China-Sierra Leone friendly relations to a new level.
