Two new metro lines open to traffic in Wuhan

Twonew metro lines - Line 19 and second phase of Line 5 - opened to traffic on Dec. 30in Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province.

With a total length of 23.3kilometers, Metro Line 19features sevenstationsfromWuhan Railway Stationto Xinyuexi Park Station, passing through Wudong Road, Huacheng Avenue, Huashan Avenue and Optics Valley No. 5 Road.

As the fastestmetro linein the city, Line 19 boasts a maximum speed of 120kilometers per hour. It is designed to connect Hongshan and Qingshan districts, East Lake Scenic Area, and East Lake High-tech Development Zone.

The second phase of Line 5 starts from Hongxia Station and ends at Hubei University of Chinese Medicine Station, which will be more convenient for nearly 200,000 nearby residents.

Currently, the operating mileage of Wuhan metro lineshas reached 486 kilometers with 12 lines and 300 stations.
