On October 20, after attending the third Belt and Road Forom for International Cooperation in Beijing, Mozambican Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane arrived at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport for his inaugural visit to Hubei Province.

During this visit, Prime Minister Maleiane attended and addressed the China (Hubei)- Mozambique Trade and Investment Promotion Conference and visited Huaxin Cement Company. He expressed the hope to strengthen business ties with China in various sectors like agriculture, tourism, energy, and infrastructure to diversify the country’s economy.

Hubei and Gaza province of Mozambique became sister provinces in 2008. Over the past 15 years, the two sides have had fruitful cooperation in business, agriculture, and technology. Governors of the two provinces signed an action plan to advance friendly cooperation at the conference. More than 50 Mozambican officials and business representatives attended the event.

Minister Maleiane visits Huaxin Cement
Huaxin Cement is a shining example of Hubei enterprises going global. On June 28, the company bought 96% of the shares of Cimentos de Moçambique (CM) which owns five cement plants with an annual production capacity of 3.3 million tons. The Nacala project of CM, which is expected to enter operation next August, will create more than 200 local job opportunities and USD 15 million of tax revenues.
