The 2023 Hubei International Chinese Language Day was held at Hubei University on April 21 under the theme of “Chinese Language: Facilitating Dialogues across Civilizations”.

“Language is the carrier of the human culture, a key to deeper mutual understanding, and a bridge between civilizations. The Chinese Language Day offers a chance for Chinese learners to exchange ideas freely and get closer to the Chinese culture in an immersive environment.” said Zhang Xiaomei, Director-General of Hubei Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and President of Hubei Provincial Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

The event brought together more than 500 participants from a dozen of countries, including Costar, president of the Sao Tomé and Príncipe University, Magalhaes, dean of the university’s Confucius School, and Paulino, dean of the Confucius School of Universidade Estadual Paulista in Brazil.

A variety of programs offering intangible cultural heritage activities, cultural performances, stories of nations exhibitions, and Chinese lessons were organized in a bid to present new achievements in international Chinese language education and bolster international exchanges in education.

A series of shows and activities are put on by international students.
