Overview
Yorba Linda is a suburban city in northeastern Orange County, California, United States, approximately 40 miles (64 km) southeast of Downtown Los Angeles. Yorba Linda is known for its connection to Richard Nixon, the 37th president of the United States. His birthplace is a National Historic Landmark, and his presidential library and museum are also located in the city.
Relations with Hong’an
In May 2014, at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, a delegation of 21 mayors from western cities in the United States came to Hong’an County, Hubei Province for a goodwill visit. Craig Young, then mayor of Yorba Linda, California, expressed his willingness to establish a sister city relationship with Hong’an County, and signed a letter of intent on sister relationship establishment.
In October 2014, Craig Young, then mayor of Yorba Linda, sent letters to Zhang Heqiang, director of the American Department of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Yu Xuewu, then secretary of the CPC Hong’an County Committee, expressing his wish that the two cities would formally establish a sister relationship.
In November 2014, Yu Xuewu sent a letter to Craig Young, thanking him for what he had done to conclude the sister relationship agreement, and congratulated Craig Young on his re-election as mayor.
In November 2014, organized by Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, a delegation of five people flew to the United States for a return visit.
